Nicholas Hower CSI

Senior colourist

Nicholas Hower CSI is Post Lab IO's Senior Colourist, technical director and co-owner.

Nick has graded long-form feature films, documentaries, episodic productions, and commercials. He has delivered content to Netflix, Stan, ABC and SBS, along with many international and domestic distributors.

Nick loves the craft of colour grading and brings a bright energy to the grade session, whether a feature film or a 30-second TVC. His experience with 8mm, 16mm, 35mm, Arri Alexa, Red, Canon, Sony, and other capture formats allows him to achieve the director’s and cinematographer's vision in all grading situations.

Nicholas designed and built Post Lab IO’s colour grading suites to meet international broadcast and theatrical delivery standards.

As the technical director, Nicholas oversees the finishing of all projects from conform to the delivery of the last MP4.

Nicholas brings a calm, analytical mind to the post-production process. His expert technical knowledge in photography, CG/VFX, and IT systems, combined with his particular interest in digital signal processing and colour science, makes him ideally suited to optimise the quality of all the productions he works on. In addition, he is always happy to discuss and offer advice on the myriad technical aspects of production from pre to post.

Originally from the USA, Nick finished high school in Tasmania and studied Digital Art at RMIT.

He is a full member of the Colorist Society International (CSI).

In his spare time, Nicholas enjoys hobbyist electronics and film photography.
